Struggle for Identity won a 2007 Gold Davey Award!
About the Film
The re-released version (on DVD rather than VHS) features returning cast members Michelle Johnson and me in A Conversation 10 Years Later, as well as the original 20-minute video featuring all six transracial adoptees–Allison, Seujan, Martin, Josh, Michelle, and yours truly. The Special Edition DVD includes out-takes of unused footage from both films.
About the Daveys (from their website):
“The Davey Awards may be for smaller organizations, but the judges have big reputations. The Davey is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms.
IAVA members include executives from organizations such as Alloy, Coach, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Estee Lauder, Fry Hammond Barr, HBO, iNDELIBLE, Wunderman, MTV, Polo Ralph Lauren, Refinery, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Victoria’s Secret, Wired, Yahoo! and many more.”
Congratulations to the team at PhotoSynthesis Productions! And to Judith Ashton at nysccc.org for making both movies happen! It’s great to see our work receiving wider and wider acclaim.
